New Fox News Power Rankings place Rob Wittman’s seat in the most competitive tier in the country
HENRICO, VA – Fox News has moved Virginia’s 1st Congressional District to “Toss-Up,” placing prosecutor Shannon Taylor’s campaign to defeat 20-year incumbent Rob Wittman among the most competitive congressional races in the country.
Wittman has represented VA-01 since 2007, but after nearly two decades in Washington, he is facing a prosecutor who has pledged to hold him accountable for years of self-dealing and stock trading while the costs facing his constituents continued to rise.
“Rob Wittman has spent two decades treating this seat like it belongs to him,” said Taylor. “It doesn’t. It belongs to the families paying more for groceries, gas, and health care while he gets richer off the very industries he’s supposed to hold accountable. This rating isn’t a surprise – it’s confirmation. This race is winnable, and I intend to win it.”
This rating change comes after a analysis from the Center for Politics, VA-01 is now the median House district by presidential performance – the tipping point for House control in 2026.
