Shannon has raised over $1.28 million total and has over $800,000 cash on hand as she continues to rack up major endorsements in key red-to-blue district

HENRICO, VA – Today, Shannon Taylor – Henrico County’s top prosecutor and candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District – announced that her campaign raised over $525,000 in the first quarter of 2026, a clear sign of momentum in one of the country’s most competitive congressional races. The strong Q1 fundraising haul comes after she was added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, signaling that national Democrats see Virginia’s 1st District as a prime pickup opportunity. Governor Spanberger carried Virginia’s 1st District in her November 2025 victory.

“Virginians are tired of a broken Washington and career politicians who get richer while they struggle,” said Taylor. “Congressman Rob Wittman has spent nearly two decades in Washington voting to raise healthcare costs, trading stocks in companies he oversees, and putting his own interests ahead of our community. Our fundraising strength is a sign that voters are ready for a representative who actually fights for them. That’s exactly what I’ve done as a prosecutor for over 13 years, and what I’ll do in Congress.”

Taylor enters the second quarter with growing support from across the Commonwealth. She has earned endorsements from Governor Abigail Spanberger, U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, former Governors Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam, Rep. Eugene Vindman (VA-07), Rep. Don Beyer (VA-08), Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10), Rep. James Walkinshaw (VA-11), and Rep. Jennifer McClellan (VA-04). She also recently announced endorsements from 25 law enforcement leaders across the Commonwealth, signaling that her campaign is building the broad coalition needed to flip this seat.

And both non-partisan elections race raters Cook Political Report and Inside Elections recently shifted Virginia’s 1st Congressional District in Democrats’ direction, specifically citing the strength of Taylor’s campaign as a major reason for the change.

Taylor announced that if the April 21st referendum passes, she will run in the newly drawn 5th District with the continued backing of Governor Spanberger.
