Richmond Times-Dispatch: Henrico prosecutor Shannon Taylor files to run for Va. attorney general

Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor has filed paperwork to run for the state Attorney General’s Office in 2025.

She will first have to win the Democratic nomination next June.

Taylor filed a statement of organization Saturday with the Virginia Department of Elections that was accepted on Monday.

Taylor, a Democrat, has been Henrico County’s top prosecutor since 2011, when she became the first woman to hold the position in the county.

A representative for her campaign said that Taylor is expecting to make her official announcement on Wednesday, but she declined to offer comment during Tuesday’s primary elections.
