Rob Wittman Says His Vote to Gut Health Care and Slash His Own Taxes “Helps Everybody”

As premiums double, hospitals close, and Virginians lose coverage, Wittman insists his vote “helps everybody”

HENRICO, VA – Henrico County’s Top Prosecutor Shannon Taylor slammed Rob Wittman for recent statement about how the OBBB “helps everybody.” In voting for this bill, Wittman voted for the largest healthcare cuts in history — a bill that is already doubling and tripling premiums, stripping Virginians of coverage, and pushing rural hospitals toward closure. With that same vote, he handed himself one of the largest tax breaks of any member of Congress.

Congressman Wittman has lost his way over his nearly 20 years in office. His net worth has grown by as much as 40 times in office, and he has traded over $2.5 million in stock while serving on committees that oversee the very industries he’s supposed to be regulating. All of this while communities like ours feel the consequences of his cost spiking votes.

“Virginians don’t need Rob Wittman to explain how his bill ‘helps everybody’ — they’re the ones paying for it,” Taylor said. “They’re the ones watching their premiums double, driving further for care because their local hospital shut down, and deciding which bill doesn’t get paid this month. I’m running to hold him accountable for getting richer at our expense.”
