SIX MONTHS IN: Rob Wittman Has Voted Five Times to Continue A War in Iran That’s Raising Costs on Virginia Families

As the war hits the six-month mark, Wittman continues his full-fledged support— even as Virginians pay more at the pump and the grocery store

Henrico, VA –  Today marks six months since the start of the cost-spiking war with Iran. Wittman continues to back the war despite the fact that it has resulted in the death of American servicemembers, has cost our country billions of dollars, and Virginians are forced to pay more at the gas pump and the grocery store. Henrico’s top prosecutor and candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 1st Congressional district, Shannon Taylor, released the following statement in response:

“Six months into this war, Virginians are feeling the squeeze because our Congressman Rob Wittman continues to vote to keep it going,” said Taylor. “American service members have died and Virginians have spent half a year paying more for gas and groceries– yet five times, Rob Wittman voted in support of this war of choice. Virginians deserve a member of Congress who will invest here at home and work to lower our costs, not fund endless wars.

Gas prices continue to climb in August across Virginia thanks to Rob Wittman’s votes to continue the war – with no end in sight.  A Senate Joint Economic Committee report found Virginians have paid $1.8 billion more for gas since the war began– an extra $573 for the average Virginia household.
