Wittman Votes to Continue Iran War as Diesel Hits Record Highs, Virginia Gas Prices Top $4.14/Gallon

Career politician Rob Wittman votes to continue the war in Iran for the sixth time, driving up costs at the pump and in the grocery aisle

Henrico, VA – Rob Wittman voted again last night to keep the Iran war going as diesel prices hit an all-time high of $6 a gallon and gas in Virginia climbed to $4.14 a gallon. It is the latest in a string of votes Wittman has cast to prolong a war that has already cost American taxpayers an estimated $40 billion and is squeezing families at the pump, in the grocery checkout line, and on their household budgets.

Despite the mounting costs, Wittman has repeatedly dodged questions from Virginia reporters about where he stands. Pressed in interviews with WRIC and NBC News on whether the war needs to end, Wittman falsely insisted the country is not even at war.

Shannon Taylor, candidate for Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, released the following statement in response:

“Rob Wittman keeps voting to keep the Iran war going, and Virginia families keep paying for it — at the pump, at the grocery store, and on every bill that’s gone up because of it. He won’t even be honest with the people he represents about what he’s doing. I spent my career holding people accountable when they abused their power and hurt the people they were supposed to protect. Rob Wittman is doing exactly that in Washington, and it’s time someone held him accountable too.”
